Ari is our forum for scholarship in Tamil. Experts explain their fields in the language, plainly enough for a school student and precisely enough for a specialist. Everything here is in the authors' own Tamil, exactly as they wrote and spoke it.

Ari invites scholars from every discipline to write. The aim is a body of Tamil knowledge that a school student, a college student and a general reader can all follow. The fields below are open.
Length
1,000 to 5,000 words, roughly 2 to 25 pages.
Plainness
An Ari article must be understandable by school and college students and by the general public. That is the basic requirement, not a nicety.
Terminology
Use Tamil technical terms wherever they exist, drawing on Chol or Sorkuvai. The English word may follow in brackets where it helps.
Background literature
Cite what has already been written on the subject, in any language, and say how your article relates to it and where it differs.
Copyright
The work must be your own. Anything quoted or reproduced must be credited to its source.
Review
Every submission goes to the review committee. Authors receive comments and revise before publication.

Tamil has carried poetry, grammar and philosophy for two thousand years. It has never had a modern, properly reviewed journal of its own where a physicist, a physician and a linguist all publish in Tamil. Ari is how we are learning to build one: the writing standard, the review committee, and the habit of explaining hard things plainly.
